The Cixi Grand Theater is located in the cultural and business district of the central urban area of Cixi, in the north of the Chaotang River. It is adjacent to the Xincheng River to the east, Mingyue Lake to the south, and the hydrophilic square to the west.

The design of Cixi Grand Theater is based on the broad spirit of Cixi's "river", "reclamation", and "humanities". It covers a total area of 32044 square meters, with a total construction area of 48000 square meters. The four floors above ground (partially five floors) have a construction area of 32144 square meters, and the underground floor has a construction area of 16085 square meters. The Cixi Grand Theater has a total investment of 720 million yuan, making it the largest single cultural public building facility in Cixi City to date. It is also the first multi-functional grand theater in a county (city) of Ningbo City.
